Batho Pele Social Development Youth Organisation builds sustainable programmes that confront the socio-economic challenges facing young people — and gives them the skills to be self-reliant.
Batho Pele — "people first" — was founded on a simple belief: given the right environment, young people can lead their own development. Here's what drives everything we do.
To create a conducive environment that will arrest the moral decline amongst young people by establishing sustainable programmes that address the socio-economic challenges faced by and affecting young people.
To be a sought-after development centre for young people in Greenfields and its surrounding communities.
Every number here is a young person, a family, or a household that took a step forward this financial year.
From daily advice and referrals to hands-on trade skills, every programme ladders up to the same goal: self-reliant young people who can shape their own futures.
Quarterly life skills training builds the confidence and decision-making young people need for daily life.
Basic computer skills training every quarter, leading to an accredited End User Computer certificate.
A deeper, hands-on computer training track for beneficiaries ready to go beyond the basics.
Code 10 driver training opens the door to employment in transport and logistics.
Practical retail and till skills preparing beneficiaries for entry-level roles.
Accredited security training for beneficiaries pursuing careers in the security sector.
Forklift operator training builds a direct pathway into the warehousing and logistics industry.
Batho Pele is passionate about youth development. Four goals sit behind every programme we run.
Every programme, from advice services to trade skills, is designed to move a young person forward.
We meet the real, practical barriers young people face — unemployment, food insecurity, lack of access — head on.
We build the values, character and support structures that keep young people grounded.
Skills, certification and confidence — so young people can stand on their own.
