About Batho-Pele

In the heart of Greenfields, Ekurhuleni, where many communities continue to face the realities of poverty, unemployment, and limited opportunities, Batho-Pele Social Development Youth Organization was born out of a simple but powerful idea — that change begins with people.

Founded through the vision of Mr. Lubabalo Mafuya, alongside the youth of Greenfields and in collaboration with the Gauteng Department of Social Development, Batho-pele was established to respond to the urgent socio-economic challenges affecting young people and vulnerable families. What started as a community-driven initiative has grown into a committed organisation focused on restoring dignity, creating opportunities, and building a better future.

01
Our Purpose

At Batho-pele, we believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to thrive. Our work is rooted in empowering communities through practical solutions — from skills development and social programmes to nutritional support and advisory services. We aim to equip individuals not only with knowledge, but with the confidence and tools needed to become self-sufficient and active contributors to society.

02
Our Work in Action

To promote health and wellbeing with our community through facilitating awareness session that relates to social issues aimed at empowering communities through the Batho Pele Games that the organisation hosts annually.

To provide material assistance and social relief to household and individuals who are poor.

03
Making a Difference

Over the years, Batho-pele has touched many lives — from providing food parcels and school uniforms to organising career expos that inspire and guide young people toward a brighter future. Through partnerships and collaboration, we continue to expand our reach and deepen our impact within the community.

Each initiative we undertake is driven by a commitment to uplift, empower, and restore hope.
